About this Position

Position Overview

This position supervises the grounds and maintenance team and is responsible for managing all aspects of facility upkeep at the recreational lake. Key responsibilities include janitorial services (restrooms and porta-potties), grounds maintenance, equipment upkeep, building care, and campsite upkeep. The role also supports ongoing construction and improvement projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervising, training, and providing guidance to staff.
  • Develop and implement maintenance procedures and schedules to ensure efficient operation of equipment and facilities.
  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment and infrastructure to identify issues and perform or coordinate preventive maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and oversee repairs of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors to ensure timely and effective service delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and standards during maintenance and construction activities to promote a safe work environment.
  • Use OSU systems to track work orders, monitor equipment history, and maintain maintenance schedules.
  • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests and resolve issues in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on maintenance and construction activities for management.
  • Interact daily with LCB customers to address concerns related to janitorial or maintenance operations.
  • Investigate and respond to complaints or reports regarding facility and grounds conditions.
  • Assist with lake and safety patrols as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • One year of supervisory experience and at least three years of demonstrated work experience involving the safe operation and routine maintenance of standard equipment associated with landscaping, janitorial, maintenance of buildings, facilities, utilities, and operating heavy equipment. Vocational/Technical training and High School/GED

  • Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

    A valid Oklahoma Driver’s License must be maintained for the operation of an OSU vehicle, which is required in the performance of job duties as assigned. Standard First Aid and CPR certifications are required within three months of hire.

  • Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

    Ability to read, write, and follow oral instructions. This position is heavy in manual labor and requires the physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and more than 50 pounds occasionally. Must be able to operate power ground equipment, including tractors, implements, mowers, chainsaws, etc. Ability to safely operate powered carpenter tools, welders, cutting torches, etc. Excellent in basic mechanical/electrical/electronic background to perform preventative maintenance and repair damaged equipment. Ability to operate skid steer, backhoe, cedar cutters, and other skid steer attachments. Have ability to perform varied tasks with deadlines.

  • Bachelor's
  • Five years of supervisory experience and five years of demonstrated work experience involving the safe operation and routine maintenance of standard equipment associated with landscaping, janitorial, maintenance of buildings, facilities, utilities, and operating heavy equipment.
