About this Position

Responsible for daily coordination and implementation of care, reproduction, and nutritional programs for the livestock and forage management at the Bluestem Range and Wheat Pasture Unit, in collaboration with the Sr. Herd Manager. Responsible for managing the inventory, deployment, and maintenance of precision livestock technology equipment for the department. Responsible for maintaining and improving facilities, maintaining general cleanliness and desirable appearance of all facilities and grounds. Assist with collection of research samples as needed. Will supervise student employees.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Animal Science or related field
    (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Knowledge/experience in beef cattle management and handling, knowledge of forage production and supplement feeding.  Knowledge of livestock technology.

  • Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

    Valid Driver's License

  • Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

    Excellent computer skills, record keeping skills and organizational skills. Must be dependable and work both independently and with others, ability to meet the public, must be a skilled with livestock and possess skills to handle cattle, identify and treat sick cattle and keep accurate records, must be capable of operating farm equipment and must be able to lift at least 100 pounds. Must be able to effectively maintain digital livestock technology such as electronic ear tags, virtual fence collars, scales, etc.
