About this Position

Oklahoma State University invites applications for the role of term-limited Archives Specialist within the Special Collections and University Archives (SCUA). Reporting to the SCUA Archivist and the SCUA Department Head, the Archives Specialist will play a key role in organizing, rehousing, inventorying, preserving, and describing materials from the T. Boone Pickens Collection, housed in the cold-storage vault of the Library Auxiliary Building. This project aims to make the collection accessible for research and public exhibitions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's
    • Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to archival work (e.g., History, Museum Studies, Information Science)
    (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • The ability to lift materials weighing up to forty pounds.
    • Willingness to work in a climate-controlled, low-temperature storage environment.
    • High attention to detail and excellent organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience working in archives.
  • Experience with rehousing, assessment, and description of archival collections.
  • Familiarity with ArchivesSpace and Microsoft Excel
  • Working knowledge of current archival standards and best practices
