Work Schedule

20 hours a week, Work schedule may extend beyond regular office hours of 8 am to 5 pm Mon-Fri. May work on weekends/holidays/after hours on a rotating schedule to cover daily needs.

$12.00, Hourly

About this Position

Advocates for research animal welfare. Performs routine and specialize duties associated with animal care, including feeding, monitoring health, medicating, and maintaining sanitary housing and surgical conditions. Maintains adequate inventory of necessary supplies and equipment. Maintains records and inventories relating to animal care. Observes animal behavior and conditions. Performs related duties as assigned to maintain compliance with USDA, OLAW, and local policies.

Required Qualifications

  • High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Experience in caring for animals.

  • Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
    • Proficient computer skills, which includes MS Office applications and database applications.
    • Written and oral communication must routinely be clear and concise. Ability to communicate with an audience of professionals and students.
    • Team- and customer-based performance.
    • Must be reliable and detail oriented, possess superb organizational skills, and be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple tasks in an organized manner while carrying out tasks accurately.
    • Ability to maintain professional standards under routine conditions of severe and non-negotiable time constraints
    • Independent thinking and the ability to problem-solve with minimal or no supervision, often required.
    • Ability to perform humane euthanasia of animals, as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Animal care experience in a lab setting is preferred.
