About this Position

Responsible for thoroughly cleaning, scrubbing, and sanitizing stalls between patients and/or periodically when patient is hospitalized for extended period of time. Operate pickup, forklift, and other equipment as necessary to transport patients and hay. Assist in handling patients as instructed. Assist in maintaining security and biosecurity in large animal barns/isolation areas. Responsible for general maintenance including repairs to stalls, equipment, fences, doors, etc. Assist with maintaining inventories of feed and supplies as directed. This position is heavy in manual labor and requires to physical ability to lift and manipulate loads in excess of 80 pounds, including lifting and stacking hay and feed. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, crawl, stoop, and work overhead and below waist level for long periods of time. Primary work location is not climate controlled - required to work in extreme weather (hot, cold, wet) conditions at times.

Required Qualifications

  • High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • One year of related experience with animal caretaking and use of farm/ranch machinery and tools.
  • Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses: Must have valid Driver's License
  • Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

    Must be able to lift and manipulate loads in excess of 40 pounds to include lifting and stacking hay and feed. Must be able to clean stalls manually. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, crawl, stoop, work overhead and below waist level for long periods of time. Primary work location is not climate controlled - required to work in extreme weather (hot, cold, wet) conditions at times. Must be able to read and communicate verbally. Forklift/Lift Truck Operator Safety Certificate must be acquired after employment begins.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School/GED
  • Prefer more than five years experience with animal caretaking and use of farm/ranch machinery and tools.
