About this Position

The Administrative Support Specialist for the Department of Psychology at Oklahoma State University provides administrative, financial, and operational support for the department. This position serves as a key point of contact for faculty, staff, and campus partners and helps ensure that departmental operations are accurate, timely, professional, and responsive.

The position may be filled at the Administrative Support Specialist I, Administrative Support Specialist II, or Administrative Support Specialist Senior level. The final title/rank will be commensurate with the selected candidate’s education, experience, and qualifications.

Required Qualifications

  • High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • The position may be filled at the Administrative Support Specialist I, Administrative Support Specialist II, or Administrative Support Specialist Senior level. The final title/rank will be commensurate with the selected candidate’s education, experience, and qualifications.

    Admin Supp Spclt I: High school and 1 year of clerical/customer service experience.

    Admin Supp Spclt II: High school and 2 years of clerical/customer service experience.

    Admin Supp Spclt Sr: High school and 3 years of clerical/customer service experience.

    Post-secondary education may substitute for years of required experience.

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

  • Ability to operate general office equipment; proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to learn and follow university, college, and departmental policies and procedures related to financial, administrative, and student support processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using administrative, financial, HR, or student information systems at OSU.
  • Experience with business operations, financial administration, customer service, or related functions preferred, particularly in a higher education or public-sector environment.
  • Experience working in an academic department, student-facing office, business office, or other complex administrative environment.
