About this Position

GENERAL SUMMARY: 

The Activities Coordinator is charged with planning, marketing, implementing and evaluating leadership development, social, cultural, and civic-oriented activities for students of OSUIT. The position is also responsible for the coordination of a variety of special events for students and the campus community. The work is performed in collaboration with the Student Life team and others from throughout the campus and in conjunction with the local community. This position is a critical position for campus student orientation and retention efforts that provide needed support for students living on and off campus. An understanding of the institution and the ability to think and work innovatively to continually improve and create new programs of benefit for students and the campus is also critical to the success of this position.

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university required. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered if relevant.

Experience:

  • Evidences a history of demonstrating ethical and professional behavior.
  • Demonstrated examples of relevant work experience, student leadership and involvement in clubs, organizations, volunteerism, mentoring programs, civic involvement and other such activities that can be considered to be applicable to the duties listed in the job description.

Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

  • Valid Oklahoma driver’s license.
  • CPR preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be able to effectively lead and contribute in a dynamic fashion.
  • A positive "can-do" attitude along with a professional appearance and demeanor should be modeled at all times.
  • Must have a willingness to continually self-initiate learning to remain current. Should be able to quickly grasp and apply training, and assist team-mates and others in learning new skills and approaches.
  • Must be service oriented with ability to work and respond effectively to diverse audiences of internal and external students and clients, exhibiting high productivity standards.
  • Strong organizational skills as well as a demonstrated ability to multi-task and work in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Must be flexible, innovative and self-motivated.
  • Ability to perform mathematical and accounting procedures necessary to project and manage project budgets.
  • Ability to research, analyze and synthesize, determine applicability and then share and make recommendations for implementation.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, recommend and implement solutions in a timely fashion.
  • Computer skills to include word processing, spreadsheets, project management, electronic communications, social media management and design, and an understanding of web technologies.

Communication Skills:

  • Strong written and oral communications skills required. 
  • Excellent listening, customer service and problem solving skills are essential, continually incorporating feedback, ideas and requests.
